Cornel West May Not See Himself as a Neo-Fascist, BUT. . .
GUEST BLOGGER: S.S. Hill
As an American who happens to value what's left of our experiment in representative democracy, I am absolutely concerned (and I suspect Biden is too) about Cornel_West and any other person that increases the chances of a Trump return to the White House. The following facts inform that concern.
In 2016. Clinton won 2.7 million more popular votes than Trump, but lost the electoral college vote by 306 to 232. Trump's margin of electoral college victory was in three states: Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. In each of those states. Trump's margin of victory was within the vote total for Dr. Jill Stein, another Harvard narcissist, who was supported by Cornel West. In Michigan, Trump won by < 11,000 votes and Stein received 51,463. In Pennsylvania, Trump won by 43,000 votes and Stein received 71,000 votes. In Wisconsin, Trump won by < 23,000 votes and Stein received 46,000 votes. Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin had 16, 20 and 10 electoral college votes respectively. Had Clinton won those three states, she would have won the presidency 278 to 260 electoral votes.
In 2020, Biden won the popular vote by 7,059,526 out of approximately 156,000 000 votes cast. But his electoral college margin was 306 to 232. Had 42,918 votes in three states (Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin) shifted to Trump, it would have resulted in an electoral college tie, 269 to 269, thereby tossing the election to the House of Representatives where the vote would be by state and there are more Republican state delegations in the House. Such a vote would have resulted in a Trump victory . Similarly, if 113,016 votes shifted to Trump in again only three states (Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), that would have resulted in an outright electoral college victory for Trump of 278 to 260.
Suffice it to say that West could easily get as many votes as Jill Stein . In addition, there are Robert Kennedy, Jr and Ben Chavis' No Label movement, both of which are funded by right-wing billionaire and millionaire dark money, that are designed to siphon votes from Biden and enhance Trump's election chances. Given the stakes, it is not hyperbole to state that West, RFK,Jr., Chavis and anyone else who enhances the chances of electing Trump pose a clear and present danger to what's left of America's experiment with representative democracy.
